Reusable containers for takeaways

This is Solene.

Last week, Solene purchased takeaways. She paid a $3 deposit for a reusable container, on top of the price of the food.

Solene enjoyed her sushi enormously. At home, she scanned the QR code on the container out of curiosity and learned that she could return the reusable container for a voucher to redeem for a future purchase.

On returning to the store, Solene first came to a return point, before reaching the counter. Clear and engaging signage helped her understand the workflow.

This return point does not need to be manned. Staff will empty the returns bin at low-traffic times, to sanitise and prepare the returned containers for reuse.

Solene chose to engage with the QR code-enabled return process.

Solene uses her phone… you can too

Keep this page open on a device other than your phone to access the QR codes.

Note: in the real world, these containers would deactivate once returned to block a bad-actor gaming the system and receiving multiple rewards. For testing purposes, this has been disabled on the containers above so that they can be used and tested widely.

Bowls re-activate the following day. Washing logistics must be managed and/or a manual reactivation can take place.
